Sustainable production

Sustainable production means production that meets today’s needs without compromising the opportunities of future generations. It is a prerequisite for Somas’ long-term development.

We conduct manufacturing in our own premises in Säffle, which provides us with good control over the working environment and our environmental impact. We endeavour to use suppliers in our local area as much as possible.

We are constantly upgrading our machinery to make it more energy efficient and to provide safer and more ergonomic operations, at the same time as increasing our competitiveness.

Environment

With our environmental work, we take responsibility by developing and supplying our products/services in such a way that we contribute to a sustainable and resource-efficient society.

We want our products to last a long time. If and when they break, it should be possible to repair them in order to extend their service life even further. When the products are finally scrapped, the component parts should be processed and recycled as far as possible. The metal used in our products can be melted down to create the raw material for new products.

Somas’ main environmental impact consists of:

• The use of raw materials for manufacturing
• The consumption and use of chemicals
• The painting of products
• The occurrence and handling of metal waste and hazardous waste
• Inbound and outbound transport operations.
