Waste gate/bypass valves
The most common area of application for Somas’ exhaust valves is pressure regulation in the engine’s intake manifold. Pressure regulation occurs when exhaust gases are spilled at the side of the turbine (exhaust gases are wasted).
Turbo systems may also include a bypass valve. This is an exhaust valve that is not directly involved in the pressure regulation process. Instead, it helps to open the gas flows around the compressor and ensures that the turbocharger does not lose speed.
