Control valves are an important part of Somas valve range, and can be used to control the flow of different media in different processes. Somas offers several types of valves that function as control valves.
The ball segment valve has a unique design, with a ball segment and a shaft in a single unit, offering excellent control properties. Butterfly valves are also is also a good option as control valves. Ball valves have different characteristics, on the other hand, which makes them less suitable for control applications. They do offer other advantages, however, such as tight valve seats in both directions and a low pressure drop in the fully open position, which can be crucial in certain situations.
Control valves with no delay
A crucial aspect for a control valve is the connection between the valve shaft and the actuator. Somas’ actuators are equipped with a special solution that combines a keyway joint with a patented friction coupling. This coupling eliminates the delay between the actuator and the valve, which is necessary to ensure optimum control performance. The control valve is completed by the backlash-free coupling between the actuator and the positioner.
