Paper mills
Somas has been manufacturing valves since the mid-1950s. Back then, the sole focus was on valves and other equipment for the pulp and paper industry. This industry and the collaboration with our customers have been extremely important for Somas and have largely shaped the traditional valve range, which is renowned for the use of acid-proof stainless steel for components that come into contact with various media.
Pulp mills offer a wide range of applications where Somas’ valves are perfectly suited, including blow valves, valves for liquor circulation and valves for pulp flows in screen rooms and bleaching departments. Many areas of application require special valve materials to be able to handle the corrosive environment. Somas has solutions to meet your specific needs, both in terms of design and materials. Pulp mills also utilise recovery systems for digesting chemicals, which also require high-performance valves. There are several other key functions in a pulp mill where Somas’ valves can provide solutions, including drain control and water supply.
How are Somas’ valves used?
All of Somas’ valve types, such as ball segment valves, butterfly valves and ball valves, are used in pulp mills. That’s why we manufacture all our valves using stainless materials as standard. However, we can also supply valves made of titanium or high-nickel alloys, should you require.
