How did you come to work at Somas?
Happenstance honestly. After various hourly employments, I wanted to try something new and started a course focused on CNC machining. Through my instructor, who previously worked here, I managed to get to Somas, which was the best thing that could’ve happened.
How long have you worked here, what makes you stay?
I started in February 2024. What keeps me around are my colleagues, they’re all 10 out of 10. It feels like you’re hanging out with one big extended family rather than coming to work.
What’s a good day at work like for you?
When everyone’s in a good mood. Even if your machine is having issues it can turn into a great day, we figure it out together and learn from each other.
Which part of your job are you the proudest of?
My colleagues. I brag about them every chance I get. We elevate each other all the time, and the managers make you feel appreciated for what you’re doing.
What’s the trickiest part of your job?
When my machine really acts up and we can’t figure it out right away. It creates a lot of stress since it impacts the entire production flow.
What’s something you think a lot of people misunderstand about your job?
A lot of people assume you just stand by your own machine all day, the job is really varied and you’re rarely standing in one place for too long.
What makes you enjoy working with your team?
Everything, really. We’re all different but complement each other perfectly. We have fun, support each other and help whenever needed.
What’s a moment that made you feel: ‘this is why I work here’?
Every Monday when I get in, I realize I’ve been longing to get back to work. That pretty much tells you everything you need to know about Somas as a workplace. In no small part thanks to my colleagues.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I love to sing, I´ve been a member of a choir for 22 years. I also do a lot of work on my house and run a kennel with my mom, which also takes up a lot of time.

Who I am: CNC operator who found my place at Somas via a detour and glad I did. I like it when the tempo is high and my colleagues are close. Outside of work I sing in a choir and do work on my house, I also run a kennel with my mom.
