How did you come to work at Somas?
After 12 years working in the same place, I felt it was time to try something new. Through a previous colleague I got in touch with Somas and got invited to an interview and tour of the facilities. The overall vibe and the people I met during my visit made me feel like it was the right next step to take.
How long have you worked here, what makes you stay?
Since October 2023. What keeps me around are my colleagues and the helpful environment, we’re all there for each other when we need it.
What’s a good day at work like for you?
When I make things happen and feel like I’m making progress. I appreciate days with a good mix of meetings and working on my own.
Which part of your job are you the proudest of?
Handling a problem and ensuring the team finds a solution together rather than getting stuck. And the feeling of being a part of a company that’s always looking to improve.
What’s the trickiest part of your job?
We’re in the process of expanding, which means new systems and ways to work which doesn’t always make the way forward obvious. Finding the right solutions requires both patience and teamwork.
What’s something you think a lot of people misunderstand about your job?
I think a lot of people underestimate the work that goes into finding a solution to a problem. It’s not all about sitting in front of your computer, you need to gather information and work together. Sometimes you feel like a detective trying to make sure everything fits together right from the start.
What makes you enjoy working with your team?
We support each other. We share knowledge, solve problems together and learn from each other.
What’s the most fun with creating something, from an idea to a finished solution?
Following the entire process and seeing an idea become reality. Doing it together as a team makes it extra fun.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I spend a lot of time with my son; I also work out and enjoy gardening.
